Hello!
Alright, so I've joined this community because I am having a bit of a problem. It's name is "custom content."
So, I really want to add custom content to my Sims 3 game. Since I've already gotten stuff from the Mod The Sims site before, I went there and followed their steps for adding content. Only, it doesn't work. I've tried their method three times and even went about downloading a .package-installing program suggested by their CC installation FAQ. Still nothing.
I've tried patching up, but for some reason that's a disaster. My usual computer-savvy self can't figure out what the heck is going on with The Sims 3, and I'm beyond frustrated. (See icon.)

I was hoping I could get some help from you all here? Maybe you could tell me what you've done, any programs you use, or if you're having the same problem. I'm completely lost over here. D:

Thanks very much, and I hope this sort of thing is allowed. If not, just brush me under a rug and carry on.

Hey all, I accepted the "Training for Dummies" opportunity, where you buy a sparring dummy and work out on it, and then report back to the sports seller (forget his name).

I took a vacation in China, bought the dummy, went home, and worked out on it...but it says I haven't completed all the steps in the opportunity? What am I missing?
Is anyone else having the problem with their Sims 3 game being extremely slow? (I only have Sims 3 - I don't have World Adventures)

It takes my sims forever to walk anywhere or do anything. Telling them to make food was excructiatingly painful as it took them forever to make the food, let alone eat it. It took them forever to walk to the kitchen and when they finally got to the kitchen, they stood at the fridge for a while and then opened the door and took out the food. Chopping the food took forever too. Doing anything just takes foooorever, etc., etc., etc.... LOL.

Anyone know what causes this?

I am up-to-date on the patches/Sims updates and also on the newest AwesomeMod.

Riverview won't download

  • Jan. 4th, 2010 at 6:44 PM
I recently bought Sims 3 and want to install Riverview. The problem is, it won't download. When I try to download it, it immediately stops. This is what I see in the launcher: screen cap behind cut )

I've tried using both Firefox and Internet Explorer, I've tried disabling and enabling my firewall, I've tried downloading it through the starter, I've tried downloading it with the download manager running, nothing is working. I only have the base game installed with no patches or CC. I'm using Windows 7.

I feel like I'm missing some really obvious step in downloading this, haha. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can't patch

  • Jan. 4th, 2010 at 11:03 PM

So, I have just correctly installed an additional 1GB RAM, a shiny new Nvidia 9500 graphic card (plus appropriate drivers), un-installed  then downloaded and reinstalled my (legitimate) digital download version of the game and it played fine. I then go to patch - 1.8, the most recent - and just before it installs completely I get a pop-up which says this;

" Update Error: I/O operation failed (attribute modification)"

I've never seen this before. I have no idea what it means and thus no idea how to correct it. Any ideas anyone? Please?

I'm running Vista 32-bit, AMD Dual Core processor, 2.3 GHz and 3GB RAM.

ETA:
Okay, I've just managed to patch to 1.4.6 (dl'd fron MTS) - on to the next one...

ETA2: ...Nope, can't get any further than 1.4.6 - I tried both 1.4.6 to 1.7.9 and 1.4.6 to 1.8.25

Sims pregnancy

  • Jan. 4th, 2010 at 1:32 PM
Hey guys, does anyone else find that in your game when you try for a baby sometimes the game does not make the music sound that tells you your sim is pregnant? Cause mine didn't and suddenly my sim is pregnant. This has happened to me more than once...it's strange.
